A delay to planned temporary patient accommodation at South Tipperary General has been raised in the Dail.

Health Minister Simon Harris has confirmed that a mini-tender procurement process for a new Modular Patient Unit in Clonmel has still not been finalised.

Tipperary Independent Mattie McGrath raised the issue with the Taoiseach in Questions on Legislation but Enda Kenny only replied that it was not a legislative function and it should be raised in Topical issues instead.

Deputy McGrath says the lack of progress shows there’s no will to ease the problems facing patients and staff in South Tipperary. He says at this rate the new unit won’t be in place for at least another year.
