181 fresh faced gardai are passing out here in Templemore this afternoon – during one of the most controversial times ever for the Force.

It was a chance for senior management to speak publicly since Noirin O’Sullivan retired.

Acting Commissioner – Dónall Ó Cualáin- paid tribute to the former Commissioner and her focus on modernising the Force.

The senior management team also faced a litany of questions about the report into the 1.4 million fake breath tests which were recorded by gardai.

Deputy Commissioner John Twomey admits it’s damaged the Force.

Also speaking in Templemore, Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan had a more direct approach to the GRA comments.
Minister Flanagan added he wants all the ‘skeletons out of all the cupboards’ within the gardai and he wants to see a programme of extensive reform across the Force
