Coast Guard helicopter R117 was also called out.
SEMRA team members made their way to the walkers location and assisted the Coast Guard winchman to move them, a short distance, to a location better for winching.
The walker was winched into R117 and on the way to University Hospital Waterford shortly after 3pm.
