There was bitter disappointment for the Tipperary senior footballers last night after they were beaten by Wexford in their Division 4 National Football League clash in Wexford Park on a full time score of 1-13 to 1-12.
A Micheál Freaney goal in the second half put Tipp up by 7 but the last 15 minutes were dominated by the league leaders with Glen Malone’s goal putting the hosts back in contention with Ben Brosnan firing over the winner in additional time.
Tipp manager Philly Ryan says it was a good performance by his side and it was one they came close to winning:
”Very proud of the lads and the performance they put in. I don’t think we deserved to lose the game. A couple of things just went against us and we took the foot off the pedal and when we went to the bench … look we were ravaged with injuries you know so it’s a credit to the lads to come down and put up a performance like that and stick within the (one) point of the Wexford.”
