Competition for places is the driving force behind the Tipp senior hurling team this year.

Midfielder Brendan Maher is expecting another changed side to face Kilkenny next weekend to the one that started against Wexford on Saturday evening.

The Borrisoleigh clubman says Michael Ryan is selecting his starting 15 and panel of 26 based on who does well in training.

Maher says the players know they have to be on their toes.
