The Tipperary footballers may look to play home league games away from Semple Stadium next year.
That’s according to new manager Philly Ryan who’s been speaking following his appointment earlier this week.
The Clonmel Commercials club man believes playing in a relatively empty big stadium on a nice pitch doesn’t make things difficult for opposition teams.
Speaking to Tipperary GAA, Philly says they’ll be looking at playing home games around the county.
“Probably something we will look at is maybe to move a few of the league games or a few of the Munster league games down around the rural venues, gain a bit of support out of the local people again and try build up the pride in Tipperary football.
“It’s something we will look at. I won’t be saying that we won’t be using Thurles, I’d love to keep Thurles as a championship venue but definitely for a Munster league and National League I think we have to be bringing teams into a bit of a cauldron where it’s a little more nasty to be playing than pleasant.”
