Revenue make cigarette seizure in Tipperary

Drugs and cigarettes with a combined street value of nearly quarter of a million euro have been recovered in separate seizures in Tipperary and Clare.

During a planned raid on a house in Cahir yesterday Revenue discovered over 2,500 cigarettes branded Richman John Bull and M1.

The tobacco has a retail value of almost 15 hundred euro representing a 13 hundred euro tax loss to the Exchequer.

Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.

Meanwhile at Shannon Airport 1.1kg of herbal cannabis was discovered yesterday in the checked-in baggage of a 31-year-old Lithuanian man who had arrived on a flight from Tenerife.

He was arrested by Gardaí and detained at Ennis Garda station. The drugs are estimated to be worth €22,000.
