The relics of St. Bernadette of Lourdes will be coming to two Tipperary parishes over the coming weeks.
They will arrive in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Silvermines this afternoon and will remain there for veneration until 12 noon tomorrow.
Sean Butler is part of the committee in Silvermines – he says having the relics of St Bernadette in the parish is very special as it is one of only two churches in the dioceses of Killaloe named after St Bernadette.
“The relics will be received in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Silvermines at 3pm and from then until 8 o’clock we will have quiet time, veneration and prayer with the relics. At 8 o’clock we’ll have Concelebrated Mass. After the Mass we will have our own torch light procession around the village of Silvermines.”
There will be a farewell mass in Silvermines tomorrow at 12 noon before the relics depart for Limerick.
The relics will be in Holycross Abbey on Thursday and Friday the 19th and 20th of September.
