Recruiting hospital staff must be priority for Government – Kelly

A Tipperary TD has criticised the Government’s efforts to increase hospital capacity.

Deputy Alan Kelly claims that overcrowding can not be tackled without raising hospital staff wages and enticing staff, especially nurses, to work within the Irish health sector.

The labour TD claims that improving working conditions in Irish hospitals would give more graduate nurses cause to remain in Ireland and even entice emigrated nurses back to the country.

The deputy stressed the importance of ending the two tier wage system in improving conditions
