A proposal for a Greenway connecting Thurles with Clonmel was put forward at this months meeting of Thurles/Templemore Municipal District.

Councillor Jim Ryan says it would be a major economic and tourism boost for all the villages on the route, and run along the abandoned railway line.

He is calling for a feasibility study to be carried out by Tipperary County Council; however the council say they are currently focusing on a shorter route on Bord na Mona lands in Littleton at the moment.

Councillor Ryan says he thinks a connection between Thurles and Clonmel is a no-brainer.
