Clonmel RFC can take huge positives from their efforts in the AIL this season according to first team manager Joe Winston.

The South Tipp men ended the campaign in 6th place in Division 2C, finishing just five points outside of the playoffs.

Clonmel’s points tally of 54 this year was 20 points better than what they accumulated last season.

Speaking on Extra-Time, Joe Winston says it’s been a very positive campaign:

“It’s probably been our most successful season in the AIL, we’ve had steady progress upwards.

“We won 10 games out of 18 which is the most we’ve ever won and all the way up to maybe two weeks ago we were in the shake up for a playoff spot, we were battling for it.

“We have to be very positive about it, as I say, most wins ever and we’ve 20 points more than we got last season.

“We’re winning games that we would’ve lost last season and we’ve still got a very young team so we are quite positive.”
