Pockets of Tipp Town most ‘disadvantaged’ in county

Parts of Tipperary town have been described as the most disadvantaged in the county.

The most deprived and affluent areas in the Premier have been set out in Pobal’s deprivation index.

A new report identifies the country’s richest and poorest communities.

The average level of affluence or deprivation is set at 0, with -40 being the most deprived and +40 being the most affluent.

In Tipperary, Kiloscully, in the north of the county has been described as the most affluent, at almost 11 points above the average.

While the east urban area of Tipperary town is the most disadvantaged – 18.26 points below average.

Parts of the town are described as ‘very disadvantaged’ – including the Pearse Park and Lindon Park areas.

The Pobal Deprivation Index also shows that small rural towns are benefiting less from the economic recovery.

Overall, the report shows Dublin 2 is the wealthiest part of Ireland, while St Mary’s Park, on Limerick city’s north side is the most disadvantaged.
