Plans for a motorsport leisure facility in Tipperary have been lodged with the County Council.

A local engineering company is behind the proposals for a karting track in Cahir.

The development is described as a “family fun racing karts leisure facility”

The long established Buttimer Engineering is the company behind the proposals for the site on the Tipperary Road in Cahir.

The proposal would require a change of use of the land at Cahir Abbey Industrial Estate from industrial to a karting track.

A number of buildings are planned for the site including changing rooms and an area for the storing and general maintenance of the karts.

A noise impact statement is included in the planning application – during the week the hardstanding may be used to train kids how to drive.

A decision is due in early April from Tipperary County Council.
