Information is being sought on a theft from a car in Silvermines yesterday as well as a number of burglaries in the Clonmel/Fethard area over the weekend.

With Christmas shopping season now in full swing, Gardai have issued a warning to people to be vigilant as the level of opportunistic crimes increases.

Home burglaries and thefts from cars remain the most common with home owners being urged to invest in good security such as alarms or cameras.

Speaking to Tipp FM, Detective Seamus Maher from Nenagh Garda station says they are looking for information on a series of burglaries and attempted break ins at a number of homes in the Clonmel and Fethard area over the weekend.

He says they are looking to trace a car which was seen in the area

He is also warning motorists not to leave valuables in their cars following a spate of thefts in recent weeks, including one in the Silvermines area only yesterday

So with the level of opportunistic crime expected to increase further in the run up to Christmas, the message from Gardai, is to be vigilant.
