Parts of North Tipperary remain cut off following serious spot flooding caused by heavy overnight rain.

While most of Tipperary was affected, the north of the county was particularly badly hit.

The worst affected areas are centred in the North of the County with Garrykennedy essentially cut off as a result of flood water.
The villages of Portroe, Newtown, Burgess and the Yellow Bridge area on the old N7 were also badly hit with road conditions described as treacherous.

The Nenagh Thurles road was also badly affected with spot flooding still affecting the Nenagh thurles road at Kilkeary by the Tippo plant and also close to the Dog control unit at Knockalton.

The Nenagh/Borrisoleigh Rd (R498) also remains flooded in parts while Gardai are advising motorists to avoid the Portroe/Ballina Rd on R494

A lot of surface water remains on the M7 Dublin/Limerick Rd between J22 Roscrea and J26 Nenagh West.

A Yellow weather warning remains in place for the region until 9pm tonight and with Met Eireann forecasting a cold snap from tonight, it could bring more misery for Tipp commuters in the coming days.
