Carrick on Suir’s Michael O’Loughlin remains best of the Irish at the Tour de l’Avenir

The Team Wiggins rider lies 24th overall after finishing safely in the bunch in yesterdays 5th stage.

His Irish team-mate Mark Downey was 12th in the bunch sprint.

O’Loughlin has been impressive in the race known as the Under 23 Tour de France – taking 4th on the 3rd stage having been involved in the main move of the day.

Today the riders face a 181 kilometre stage.
