Not all carers eligible for free GP visit card

The new free GP visit cards for carers in Tipperary is being seen as a step in the right direction.

That’s according to Fine Gael general election candidate in the county Mary Newman – who says those receiving the carers allowance will be able to apply.

Earlier in the week Family Carers Ireland cautiously welcomed the news that 14,000 carers nationwide will be able to apply for the scheme from the beginning of September.

However, Ms Newman’s admitted that not all Carers will be eligible to take part in the scheme.
