New rules of what you can recycle

The rules on what you can throw in the recycle bin are changing.

It comes ahead of the Pay by weight system which is being introduced next month

The Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment has drawn up a new list of items that can’t be reused, including soft plastic and coffee cups.

China took 95% of Ireland’s plastic waste in 2016, but a ban will mean that’s no longer possible.

Ireland’s waste levels are to reach crisis levels following the move, with the government stating that there will be no more landfill sites available from next year.

Tipp FM took to the streets to ask these people if they were pro active in their recycling efforts
