Education Minister Norma Foley is defending schools after the Taoiseach said they needed to step up and provide for additional needs students.
Simon Harris last week criticised some secondary school principals for being reluctant to set up autism classes.

Parents across the country have been pleading with the Government to do more, with a number of additional needs students left without a school place this year.
The Taoiseach has been under fire from parents of children with additional needs in Tipperary for not delivering on promises he made to them about school places during a recent visit to Clonmel.
