Clonmel born boxer Michael O’Reilly says he will appeal a four year ban handed down to him after he was sent home from the 2016 Olympics following a failed drugs test.

O’Reilly tested positive for a banned substance ahead of the 2016 Rio games and was sent home from the games in shame.

His period of ineligibility will run up to 10 July 2020, with the start of his suspension backdated to the summer of 2016.

The ban was announced last night but this morning O’Reilly has said that he plans to appeal.
