Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has labelled the media as ‘completely biased’.
He’s come under fire over his ‘fat lady singing’ comments which he made outside Leinster House yesterday.
The comments have been described as disgusting and degrading.
Deputy Mattie McGrath there, defending his choice of words yesterday.
He had been asked about the Oireachtas committee on the Eighth Amendment’s recommendations, which had not yet been voted on at the time.
In response, the Tipperary TD said it was not over “until the fat lady sings and I am not talking about the chairwoman”.
Speaking on Tipp Today this morning Mattie McGrath said he referenced Senator Catherine Noone to ensure people were aware his comments did not refer to her…
Deputy McGrath then called the Senator – and despite her refusal to comment publicly – he claims she accepted his apology…
The committee have since voted in favour of repealing the 8th amendment and on the circumstances in which abortion should be allowed – Deputy McGrath voted against repeal.
He has claimed the committee was a charade and also claims the media are biased against those who are not in favour of repeal.
On Tipp Today this morning Mattie McGrath was asked if his comments outside Leinster House yesterday undermine the work of the Committee.
