The Mayor of Clonmel is calling on people in the area to turn out in huge numbers tomorrow to show their support for local man Daire Lynch.
The Clonmel Rowing Club member and his teammate Philip Doyle compete in the final of the Double Sculls at the Paris Olympics tomorrow morning having won both their heat and semi-final in impressive style.
The final will be shown live on a big screen at the Kickham Plaza in Clonmel.
Mayor Michael Murphy wants a huge turnout tomorrow morning.
“I’m asking, appealing, reaching out to the citizens of Clonmel, citizens of Tipperary – come to the Kickham Barracks Plaza tomorrow. We’re hoping to have the mother and father of all crowds there to cheer Daire on.
“Its extraordinary for Clonmel Rowing Club – one of the most historic sporting clubs in the country not just in Clonmel dating back to 1869.”
