Philly Ryan says Tipperary didn’t deserve the losing margin in yesterday’s Tailteann Cup game.
The Premier were beaten 3-19 to 1-11 by Kildare in their second round encounter in group 2 in Clonmel.
The Lilywhites led by three points at half-time as Daniel Flynn and Darragh Brennan traded goals but a second half penalty from Alex Beirne and another green flag from Daniel Flynn saw the visitors finish strong for a 14-point win.
Tipp manager Philly says he felt his side did better than the scoreline suggests:
”I don’t feel that the scoreboard reflects the game. I know we went six points down early in the game, and we weren’t looking like we could get a couple scores.
”Then the lads came with a flurry. Cian Smith pulled out there a couple of great scores.
Just disappointed with the margin that we lost by in the end, I don’t really think that we did deserve to lose by that much. I need to look at the penalty because I thought it was very dubious.”
Next up for Tipp is a clash with Leitrim in a neutral venue on the weekend of May 31st.
Round 2 of the Tailteann Cup continues this afternoon (Sunday).
Leitrim and Sligo meet in the opening game of the day with throw in at 1:30pm.
Westmeath have made the trip across the Irish Sea to face London from 2pm.
Neighbours Carlow and Wexford clash half an hour later at Netwatch Cullen Park.
