Cathaoirleach Declan Burgess says he’s proud to have the backing of Tipperary County Council to represent the County at the St Patrick’s Day Parade in New York this year.

Cllrs debated whether or not to accept the invitation from the Tipperary N&B Association of New York after Independent Seamie Morris forced a vote on the issue at the monthly meeting of the local authority.

He said the trip to the US by the Cathaoirleach and the CEO Sinead Carr should be boycotted over President Donald Trump’s policies on the war in Gaza.

Cllr Burgess says he’s been given a huge endorsement to attend the iconic parade.

Tipperary County Council will get a full report from the Cathaoirleach on the value of this year’s trip to New York.
