Major water burst in South Tipperary

Share:

Hundreds of householders in the Ballinure and Killenaule area are without water due to a burst main.

Irish Water says repairs have now been completed on the damaged pipe but it could take up to 36 hours for normal water supply to return as levels in the reservoir and the network were drained due to the burst.

The affected areas include Killenaule, Ballinunty, Gortnahoe, Ballynonty, Glengoole, Ballysloe, Dualla, Ballinure and surrounding areas.

In the meantime Irish Water says tankers of waters will be available at Gortnahoe Community Hall, Glengoole Millennium Family Resource Centre and Henry Laffan Heights in Killenaule until 5pm on tomorrow February 13th.

Those affected are being advised to bring their own containers and while the water is safe to drink, people are also urged to boil it before use as the containers being used to collect it might not be fully sterile.

Irish Water and Tipperary County Council apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this incident and we are working as a matter of priority to restore normal supply.
