Loughmore Castleiney living up to dual club status

Dual club Loughmore Castleiney are, so far, the only club in the county through to the quarter finals of both the senior hurling and football competitions in the county.

Should Eire Og Annacarthy overcome Arravale Rovers in the county senior football preliminary quarter final, they’ll be the second.

Loughmore Castleiney last won both county senior hurling and football finals in 2013, and have been to the fore of both competitions in subsequent years.

With some criticism from clubs on the backlog of fixtures, the Mid-Tipp club have been one of the worst affected.

They’ll play their hurling quarter final against Borrisoleigh this weekend, and their football quarter final next weekend against Kilsheelan.

However, their manager Declan Laffan says the run of matches doesn’t bother them as long as they’re winning…
