Loughmore/Castleiney are back in a county senior hurling final.
The 2021 champions booked their place in the decider yesterday, following their 0-17 to 2-09 victory over Thurles Sarsfields in FBD Semple Stadium.
John McGrath scored 0-12 points as the Mid champions continued their unbeaten run in this year’s championship.
It sets up a first ever final between Loughmore/Castleiney and Toomevara, who will meet in the showpiece on October 13th.
Speaking after the game, Loughmore manager Eamon Kelly was delighted with how his side performed:
“It’s great to get over the line and I thought they worked very hard today.
“At half-time after conceding two goals in the first half we knew we had a lot to do but we felt that the boys are quite good at running with the ball and minding it and as long as we kept the ball, the more difficult it was going to be for them to score.
“I thought they really applied that and anyone that got a bit of game time made a huge impact including the subs.”
At the other end of the senior grade, Lorrha survived the drop, beating Templederry in the senior relegation final on a full-time score of 1-18 to 1-15.
Elsewhere yesterday, Carrick Swan recorded a 0-18 to 0-14 win over Gortnahoe-Glengoole to earn a place in the premier intermediate hurling final where they will take on Cashel King Cormacs.
