Long awaited fix to Cahir crossing-lights in sight

The traffic light controlled crossing on Castle Street has been out of action since before Christmas.

This has been a major issue for people trying to cross the busiest street in the tourist town.

However Mayor of the District Andy Moloney says works are nearly complete to have the lights back up and running by the weekend.

Meanwhile a temporary solution will be put in place following ongoing complaints about the public toilets in Cahir.

The facility beside the tourist office has been in place for decades with many tourists and locals alike complaining about how run down they had become.

A new structure is to be built – however this won’t be in place for the coming tourist season.

Councillor Moloney says temporary facilities will be put in place instead for this summer.
