Learner permit holder detected at 176kph near Thurles

A motorist is facing court after being caught speeding on the motorway by members of the Tipperary Roads Policing Unit.

Officers were carrying out speed enforcement checks on the M8 near Thurles when they intercepted a VW Golf travelling at 176 kilometres per hour in a 120 zone.

The driver – a Learner Permit holder – was arrested on suspicion of Dangerous Driving and has been charged to Court.
