Alan Kelly says Labour are willing to consider any approach to form the next government.
However the Portroe native says there will be some red line issues that would have to be met.
Having been elected to the Dáil, the European Parliament and the Seanad during his political career Kelly is the most experienced member of Labour and the only current TD to have served as a Senior Minister.
He told Tipp FM every avenue will be explored.
“It’s important that when you put your name forward and when you get elected that you don’t just sit on the fence – that you give an opportunity to the option of going into government and don’t dismiss it out of hand straight away.
“I certainly will be approaching it with an open mind with a view to looking at what the options are, talking to everybody and then seeing what the policy – because it has to be about policy – where we can go as regards policy formation and achieving what we want to achieve as a party so we’ll see where that goes.”
