A study into the funding of the rail network indicates substantial investment is needed to maintain services.

Corporate Communications Manager with Irish Rail – Barry Kenny – admits the Limerick Junction to Waterford and Limerick to Ballybrophy via Nenagh lines could be examined with a view to savings.

However Tipperary TD Alan Kelly says this is not an option if the Government is serious about investment in the Premier County.
