The Irish Cancer Society has issued an appeal for someone to take on the role of co-ordinator for National Daffodil Day in Thurles this year.
The annual fundraiser for the society takes place on March 28th next.
Nicola McMahon is Community Fundraiser for Munster for the Irish Cancer Society.
She says without a co-ordinator and volunteers their annual collection can’t go ahead properly:
“We have had fantastic organisers and volunteers in the past but it’s just fallen off in the last few years and we haven’t had a full coverage of the town and we were just hoping to get a bit more of a presence there for Daffodil Day on the 28th of March this year.
“Generally we are finding ways in every corner, every small village, there’s a coffee morning or there’s fundraising but just in Thurles and a few other towns there has been a shortfall in the last number of years but we’d just like to cover more of the town as it’s important to give people as many opportunities to donate as we can.”
