The HSE has come in for renewed criticism for its failure to fund the operational costs of the new Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick.
The state of the art facility is set to open in just over a month’s time.
However the HSE has still not sanctioned the extra funding needed run it until the end of the year.
The multi-million Euro unit at Dooradoyle – which will provide emergency cover for North Tipp – is to come on stream on May 29th.
Labour Health spokesperson and Tipperary TD Alan Kelly says the lack of funding is not acceptable given the overcrowding being experienced at UHL.
Meanwhile
It’s claimed the public is being “fobbed off” with the publication of the national maternity hospital deal.
Last night, the full details were made available online and the Health Minister says he’ll reveal more before the contracts are signed.
The St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group behind the project also issued a statement confirming there’ll be full clinical independence at the facility.
But the Workers Party says publishing the deal doesn’t change its owners.
