A Tipperary animal rescue group say they are just about surviving week to week.
PAWS – which is based in Mullinahone – is one of the many across Tipperary which are struggling to continue their efforts.
Gina Hetherington told Tipp Today earlier that they came close to shutting their doors a few weeks ago.
They had €4,000 in the bank, six staff to pay on the Friday and a vets bill for €29,000.
“We just said look we can’t do this. Next thing the phone rang and there was a little ball of something on the road – this poor unfortunate creature of a puppy. It was totally bald and literally on its last legs.
“We put her pictures up on Facebook and the response from the public was astounding. We got about €18,000 in donations over those two weeks. And that little dog (which has been called Hope) – everybody’s followed her progress on our Facebook page and she’s now in a foster home and she’s going to thrive.”
