Top Tipperary Agritech firm Herdwatch has officially opened its new global headquarters in Roscrea.
The livestock management software platform which works across Ireland and the UK as well as other countries like Canada and Ukraine has moved into the new multi-million Roscrea Enterprise and Community Hub.
There will be at least 45 of the company’s 100 employees based at REACH in the town centre.
CEO and co-founder Fabien Peyaud says being part of community in Roscrea and part of the north Tipp town’s future is important to them:
”Roscrea was here for us when we started, so for us to actually be based in the center of the town and grow with Roscrea, I think it’s a huge, huge factor of satisfaction for me and for the team. I mean we’ve only been here two weeks and already the team are buzzing
Just being here in the center of town, being able to, you know, walk around this beautiful place.
”I mean, Roscrea is beautiful, underrated in my humble opinion. But it’s very much on the up. I think this is one of those signs to see the Reach Hub here. Hopefully Herdwatch is a small part of that, bringing that vitality and that innovation right in the center of Roscrea.
We’re very proud of that.”
The Enterprise Minister attened the launch event to officially cut the ribbon.
Minister Peter Burke says it’s crucial that modern tech companies like Herdwatch can stay and flourish in a town like Roscrea.
”It’s a company that is synonymous with Roscrea. 13 years established here, moving to its state-of-the-art 4,000 square foot new premises. 100 jobs here, half them in Roscrea and you can see how much they are really getting into international markets between the UK and the US and that’s very important from an Irish perspective, through Enterprise Ireland, supporting them and ensuring that we as a country are focusing heavily on our export market by our indigenous companies.”
CEO of Enterprise Ireland Kevin Sherry says Tipperary’ Herdwatch is a great example of an ambitious local company.
Herdwatch has 20-thousand farmers as customers all across Ireland, the UK, Canada and Ukraine.
Enterprise Ireland boss Kevin Sherry says this is exactly the kind of local success story that they want to see:
”Well, as you can see here, I think Herdwatch here, opening a new facility, it’s a culmination of a lot of work that the company have undertaken over many years to build their business.
”And they’re so important to the Irish economy, so important to Roscrea, and actually
delivering an enormous service to 20,000 farmers. So it’s just just a great story and
a real evidence of the ambition and commitment of our entrepreneurs.”
