Hayes: FG in good hands

The calibre of people in the running to represent Fine Gael in the next General Election was part of the reason former Minister of State Tom Hayes decided not to go forward this time.

Seven other candidates from across Tipperary have put themselves forward for selection at the Fine Gael declaration convention in the Ragg on Friday.

Having served in local politics from 1991, and in the Dail from 2001, Tom Hayes lost his seat in the 2016 General Election, as did his party colleague Noel Coonan.

Despite not running this time, he says he’ll help whoever comes through the process.

And you can hear a full interview with Tom Hayes on Tipp Today with Fran Curry from 9 this morning.
