Hamstring injury sees Sharlene Mawdsley withdraw from European Indoor Championship

Sharlene Mawdsley’s European Athletics Indoor Championships appears to be over.

The Newport AC sprinter withdrew from the heats of the individual 400m event in the Netherlands this morning.

Sharlene posted on social media to say she was ‘devastated’ that she had to withdraw, sighting a slight injury in her hamstring in her warmup this morning.

The withdrawal comes after the Tipp woman ran the fastest split of any woman in Thursday night’s Mixed 4x400m relay final.

Sharlene was set to compete in the Womens 4x400m relay final on Sunday however the Olympian finished her social media post today saying ‘I’ll be back for outdoors.”
