An Bord Pleanala has ruled in favour of a proposed windfarm near Templemore.
Buirios Ltd is the company behind the plans for nine wind turbines at Borrisbeg.
The project is deemed to be strategic infrastructure meaning planning can be sought directly from An Bord Pleanala.
The turbines would have an overall tip-height of 185 metres and would have a combined capacity to power over 43,000 households.
Buirios Ltd proposes a community benefit fund, ranging from approximately €400,000 to €200,000 per year depending on whether the project is developed under the Renewable Energy Support Scheme.
A comprehensive 185 page report from an An Bord Pleanala inspector recommended that permission be given for the windfarm.
The state planning appeals board has backed this report and granted conditional approval for the project.
