Government accused of letting down horticultural businesses

Fianna Fáil claims the Government has failed to help businesses in Tipperary who suffered losses after Storm Ophelia.

Local TD Jackie Cahill says the government has let down many horticulture businesses who do not have a support scheme to protect jobs.

Annaveigh Nurseries in New Inn was badly hit after Storm Ophelia – costing the business thousands of euro worth of damage.

Deputy Cahill was commenting as Minister for Horticulture, Andrew Doyle announced the launch of a new grant scheme which will fund 40% of the costs for approved capital investments.

He says the scheme is a positive step for businesses but they have missed the point:
