Tipperary Gardaí are urging people to be conscious of the dangers posed when taking to the roads over the festive season.
Over 170 people have been killed on Irelands roads this year.
The number of fatalities in Tipperary have fallen significantly in 2024 compared to last year.
However as Inspector James White from Thurles Garda station points out we need to try to reduce it even more:
“This year to date, we have lost two lives on the roads of Tipperary, while this is a substantial reduction on the 16 lives lost last year in 2023, it is still two lives too many.
“We must also bare in mind that there were people who suffered serious injuries on the roads of Tipperary and further a field this year.
“Our appeal to motorists this Christmas period, under no circumstances do you ever drink and drive or drive while under the influence of drugs, always wear your seatbelt and please slowdown.”
