Funding needed for community sports groups

Cahir based Councillor Andy Moloney is pressing the importance of allocating funding to community sporting groups.

Smaller non-committed clubs that don’t seek membership fees are unable to avail of the funding handed down from Sport Ireland to cover insurance costs.

Without such funding, smaller villages risk losing their voluntary “meet and train” groups.

Cllr Moloney called on the Tipperary Sports Partnership to make some funding available for such insurance.
