A survivor of abuse at Rockwell College says he’s horrified by the scale of what’s been revealed.
An initial scoping report has found almost 2,400 historic allegations, against 884 alleged abusers, across 300 schools between the early 1960s and 90s.

14 of these schools were in Tipperary with nearly 100 allegations made.
Of the Tipperary schools included nine were run by the Christian Brothers across the county.
But the worst offending was at the Spiritan-run Rockwell College where there were 60 allegations made against 18 offenders.
Former student Derek McCarthy has spoken out about the sexual abuse he suffered there – he’s told Tipp Today that it appears to have affected more children than even he could have imagined.
