After a tumultuous journey to get to this point and some uncertainty about the Tipperary General Election vote even going ahead, Tipperary now has five TD’s for the 33rd Dáil.
In the final count, Labour’s Alan Kelly and Fianna Fáil’s Jackie Cahill were put through.
They joined Independent Mattie McGrath and Sinn Féin’s Martin Browne who got through on Count 8.
Independent Michael Lowry was the first elected on Count 1 surpassing the quota of 13,632 with 14,802 votes.
Four out of the five TD’s retained their seats, while Sinn Féin’s Martin Browne made history by gaining a seat for his party in Tipperary for the first time in the history of the state.
