Mary Lou McDonald spent much of Tuesday touring the Tipperary constituency.

During her trip she was accompanied by the party’s General Election hopeful for Tipp Ciara McCormack.

It has once again led to much commentary as to why any of the party’s male sitting councillors weren’t given the opportunity to run.

Among them was Thurles representative David Doran – speaking on Tipp Today earlier he said the party decision was still causing problems.

Some of Councillor Doran’s supporters had questioned their continued support for Sinn Féin as a result of the decision to exclude him and other male representatives in the county.

However David Doran says while he appreciates the support shown to him, he is still very much a Sinn Féin member.
