There are calls for the tourism potential of a tow-path between Carrick on Suir and Clonmel to be maximised.

The track along the banks of the River Suir in South Tipp is part of the Blueway project which links Cahir with Carrick.

It has already proved extremely popular with walkers and cyclist alike since it was completed.

Carrick based Sinn Fein representative David Dunne says efforts should be made to jointly promote a number of similar attractions in the south-east.

He also raised concerns that the riverbank walk will quickly become overgrown unless action is taken.

Councillor Dunne has urged Tipperary County Council to ensure the amenity is properly maintained.
