Proposals to look into creating a new greenway on the old Thurles Clonmel railway line raised tensions at the Monthly meeting of Tipperary County Council.
There were two separate motions raised by Councillors yesterday requesting that the possibility be examined.
But that particular greenway’s been ruled out because most of the land’s privately owned.
Independent Councillor Jim Ryan apologised for what was described as unfair criticism of the local authority’s commitment to tourism in the Premier County but says he still thinks the idea deserves a proper feasibility study.
County CEO Joe MacGrath accepted the apology – and he says the council has to continue to look at the Premier County’s tourism offering as a whole.
