Efforts to clear the housing lists in Mid Tipp have been branded as “paltry”

New figures show there are almost 730 people waiting on a local authority home in the area with the biggest numbers in Thurles Town at 358 while there are a further 195 in Roscrea.

There are also dozens more waiting in Templemore, Holycross, Borrisoleigh, Gortnahoe, Littleton and elsewhere.

Work is progressing in the development of new homes, while the council is also pursuing housing through various other avenues such as RAS and the Repair & Leasing Scheme.

But Sinn Fein Councillor David Doran says it’s not enough.
