The Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council is to hold a special meeting to provide more affordable housing in the county.

Fine Gael’s Declan Burgess made the call at this week’s monthly meeting.

The county is meeting or exceeding all its government targets for social housing but there is still a lack of private and affordable houses being built.

Cllr Burgess says he wants to drive the efforts to find solutions for working families who still can’t afford to buy a home.

The Cashel Councillor says there needs to be more of a focus on finding ways to provide more affordable housing for the squeezed middle in Tipperary.
