New concerns are being raised about the lack of private landlords accepting HAP tenants in Tipperary.

There were only 19 new tenancies for locals getting the Housing Assistance Payment according to the latest report from the local authority’s housing department.

HAP is paid directly to the landlord from the council but there are strict conditions the property must comply with which are not necessary in the private market.

Fianna Fail Cllr Sean Ryan says the scheme is not providing the amount of accomodation needed.
