Ireland led at the break 1-0 after Clonmel’s Maebh Russell played a ball into the box which was volleyed into the back of the net by striker Lia O’Leary.

However, Geramny’s pressure on the Irish goal eventually led to the break through in the 71st minute and the Germans would take the lead with another goal six minutes later.

Next up for Ireland is the final group game where they take on the Netherlands on Sunday at 12 noon.
